Why The Pas and Opaskwayak Cree Nation? Known as The Gateway to the North, The Pas and OCN is a major transportation hub, connecting southern Manitoba routes with those in the north and serving as a East-West corridor for goods flowing into Saskatchewan and Alberta. The region also boasts thriving agricultural, manufacturing, tourism, and educational industries. Expand your business, explore new partnerships, and secure your foothold in the North.

Join the MCC, University College of the North, and Look North at the Linkages 2024 conference at the Kikiwak Inn, featuring keynote speakers Shawn Kanungo, Ramy Nassar, and Ken Coates, expert panel discussions, and networking opportunities with leaders from around Manitoba.

About UCN Linkages
UCN Linkages is a reoccurring economic development conference that brings together industry leaders, economic development organizations, academia, and more, to Northern Manitoba. Linkages is focused on initiating creative, critical thinking and collaborative conversations about northern economic development and the future. UCN hosts two conferences annually: one in The Pas, and one in Thompson.

The conference focuses on innovation, people and partnerships, language and culture, and diving deep into the challenges, opportunities, and strategies for each. We're passionate about showcasing the incredible strengths of Northern Manitoba and exploring how this region can genuinely thrive. Through these dialogues, we foster meaningful connections, valuable relationships, and exciting prospects for a robust and sustainable community.

Manitoba is located on Treaty 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Territories and includes travel through communities who are signatories to Treaties 6 and 10. Manitoba is located on the ancestral land of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline and Nehethowuk Nations, and is the Homeland of the Red River Métis. Northern Manitoba includes lands that were and are the ancestral lands of the Inuit.

The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce respects the spirit and intent of Treaties and Treaty Making and remains committed to working in partnership with First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in the spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration. Acknowledging these original caretakers is a reminder of our unique heritage, our important relationships, and our obligations to and shared responsibilities with Indigenous peoples.
