Known as The Gateway to the North\, The Pas and OCN is a major transportation hub\, connecting southern Manitoba routes with those in the north and serving as a East-West corridor for goods flowing into Saskatchewan and Alberta. The region also boasts thriving agricultural\, manufacturing\, tourism\, and educational industries. Expand your business\, explore new partnerships\, and secure your foothold in the North.\n\n\n\nJoin the MCC\, University College of the North\, and Look North at the Linkages 2024 conference at the Kikiwak Inn\, featuring keynote speakers Shawn Kanungo\, Ramy Nassar\, and Ken Coates\, expert panel discussions\, and networking opportunities with leaders from around Manitoba.\n\n\n\nAbout UCN Linkages\n\nUCN Linkages is a reoccurring economic development conference that brings together industry leaders\, economic development organizations\, academia\, and more\, to Northern Manitoba. Linkages is focused on initiating creative\, critical thinking and collaborative conversations about northern economic development and the future. UCN hosts two conferences annually: one in The Pas\, and one in Thompson.\n\n\n\nThe conference focuses on innovation\, people and partnerships\, language and culture\, and diving deep into the challenges\, opportunities\, and strategies for each. We're passionate about showcasing the incredible strengths of Northern Manitoba and exploring how this region can genuinely thrive. Through these dialogues\, we foster meaningful connections\, valuable relationships\, and exciting prospects for a robust and sustainable community.\n\n\n\nAdditional Tour Details\n\nTransportation\n\nDelegate registration does not include travel in a personal vehicle (fuel\, parking\, maintenance\, mileage\, etc.).\n\n\n\nIf a delegate has opted out of group travel by chartered bus\, the delegate is responsible for the cost of fuel\, parking\, maintenance\, etc.\, and may be responsible for driving themselves to/from various facilities during the scheduled tour itinerary. Parking and pick-up/drop-off arrangements will be advised in your program guide issued 1-2 business days prior to the tour.\n\n\n\nDeparture details will be provided to delegates upon completed registration.\n\n\n\nFlights\n\nDelegates are responsible for checking in on time. Calm Air recommends check-in 2 hours (4:30 AM) prior to departure. Check-in closes 60 minutes prior to departure (5:30 AM). \n\n\n\nFlights will not be delayed to accommodate delegates that fail to arrive to the airport on time\, and a make-up flight cannot be guaranteed. Delegate fees will not be refunded and any additional costs incurred may be charged back to the delegate.\n\n\n\nAccommodations\n\nEach delegate registration includes accommodations for one (1) night (room and taxes only). \n\n\n\nIf a delegate has opted out of accommodations\, the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce will provide a registration discount for the cost of one (1) night's accommodations up to a value of $130. Discounts will not be provided to delegates that opt out of accommodations after submission of registration and the MCC cannot guarantee accommodation availability should the delegate's selection change at a later date .\n\n\n\nDress Code\n\nDelegates are encouraged to pack business casual attire (jeans are OK) and must pack comfortable\, closed-toe shoes to wear! Some facilities may require specific clothing (long pants\, long sleeves\, etc.) for participation\, which the MCC will advise in your program guide (issued 1-2 business days prior to the tour).\n\n\n\nConsider weather conditions when packing.\n\n\n\nWe acknowledge that we will be gathering on Treaty 5 Territory\, the traditional lands of Opaskwayak Cree Nation as well as many Cree\, Dene\, and Oji-Cree peoples\, and is the homeland of the Red River M tis People.
