Indigenous Procurement Micro Credenti...

Description

Build the skills to lead change in Indigenous procurement.

The Indigenous Procurement Micro Credential provides a practical, action focused learning experience for professionals committed to reconciliation and inclusive economic development. Over two days, participants explore Treaty obligations, Indigenous engagement models, and strategies for removing structural, interpersonal, and organizational barriers.

Through hands on activities and real world examples, we will discuss how to design, implement, and evaluate Indigenous procurement programs that are ethical, transparent, and community informed. Whether you’re updating existing procurement policies or building a new framework, this micro credential equips you to take meaningful steps toward supporting Indigenous participation and economic sovereignty.

Ideal for: government, non-profits, private sector, procurement specialists, leaders, HR, and anyone seeking to embed reconciliation in organizational practice.

The micro credential is designed to:

  1. Build foundational understanding of Indigenous engagement, Treaty obligations, and the role of reconciliation in procurement practices.
  2. Increase organizational capacity to identify, address, and remove barriers that limit Indigenous participation in procurement processes.
  3. Equip participants with practical tools for designing, implementing, and evaluating Indigenous procurement programs that are ethical, sustainable, and community informed.
  4. Strengthen relationships between organizations and Indigenous businesses, Nations, and communities through respectful, effective engagement strategies.
  5. Support long-term organizational change by integrating Indigenous perspectives, procurement models, and continuous improvement methods into policy and practice.

10 CPD available for SCMP designation holders.

Prerequisite: To attend this workshop, participants are required to have completed some form of Indigenous Engagement or Awareness Training prior to the session. Training completed through any recognized educational institution or organization is accepted; this is essential to ensuring meaningful and informed participation.

If you haven't yet completed this training, we highly recommend attending the Truth and Reconciliation Conference hosted by Supply Chain Manitoba on October 6th, 2026. As a registrant, you will receive complimentary access to the conference — a $100 value, at no cost to you!

Manitoba is located on Treaty 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Territories and includes travel through communities who are signatories to Treaties 6 and 10. Manitoba is located on the ancestral land of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline and Nehethowuk Nations, and is the Homeland of the Red River Métis. Northern Manitoba includes lands that were and are the ancestral lands of the Inuit.

The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce respects the spirit and intent of Treaties and Treaty Making and remains committed to working in partnership with First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in the spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration. Acknowledging these original caretakers is a reminder of our unique heritage, our important relationships, and our obligations to and shared responsibilities with Indigenous peoples.
