MEEPA Event: Embracing Neurodiversity...

Description

The Manitoba Employment Equity Practitioners Association (MEEPA) is pleased to announce our partnership with the Workers Compensation Board in hosting our next in-person MEEPA event “Embracing Neurodiversity and Late Diagnoses” on Thursday, February 27th from 1:00 to 3:30 pm at the Workers Compensation Board (WCB), 16-363 Broadway.

The first part of the event will have a presentation by Anne Kresta about "Autism at Work: Practical and Comprehensive Strategies for Success."

Anne is a passionate advocate for the inclusion of people with disabilities, drawing from her personal and professional experience working in inclusive education, the transition to adulthood and employment. Her extensive work includes collaborations with The Ability Hub/The Sinneave Family Foundation, Community Living Manitoba, and the Thrive Leadership group. Since 2017, Anne has served as the President and Executive Director of Level It Up, a non-profit that promotes the mutual benefits of employing skilled autistic talent in science, technology, engineering, the arts and math. She is a co-founder and past chair of Neurowrx, an international alliance working to improve employment opportunities for skilled autistic individuals in STEAM fields.

The second part of the event will have a panel discussion session of individuals who are willing to share their experiences with late diagnoses and the impact on their careers.

Manitoba is located on Treaty 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Territories and includes travel through communities who are signatories to Treaties 6 and 10. Manitoba is located on the ancestral land of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline and Nehethowuk Nations, and is the Homeland of the Red River Métis. Northern Manitoba includes lands that were and are the ancestral lands of the Inuit.

The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce respects the spirit and intent of Treaties and Treaty Making and remains committed to working in partnership with First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in the spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration. Acknowledging these original caretakers is a reminder of our unique heritage, our important relationships, and our obligations to and shared responsibilities with Indigenous peoples.
