SUMMARY:Black Manitobans Chamber of Commerce: 2023 Black History Month Celebration
DESCRIPTION:BMCC - 2023 Black History Month\n\n\n\nWhy Black History Month?\n\n\n\nWho better than Dr. Jean Augustine to answer this question. The Honorable Dr. Jean Augustine made history as the first African Canadian woman elected to Canada's Parliament and served from 1993-2006. Her legislative successes include the historic Black History Month Motion\; and the ground-breaking Famous Five Motion\, which authorized the first and still the only statues on Parliament Hill depicting women other than Queen Elizabeth.\n\n\n\nJoin us on March 3rd in Winnipeg to celebrate this Icon and one of the pillar of our community.\n\n\n\nThe evening will kick off at 5:30pm with cocktails served followed by the premiere of "Steadfast - The Messenger and the Message"\, a heartwarming documentary film of the life and times of Honourable Dr. Jean Augustine\, capturing her humble beginnings in Grenada and her many achievements and laurels after she immigrated to Canada. We hope that our future young leaders will be inspired by Dr. Jean's story.\n\n\n\nPlease RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bmcc-2023-black-history-month-dinner-with-the-hon-dr-jean-augustine-tickets-538398393087
